Wintest has advanced equipment for performing impermeability tests to control cells and sewage and drainage pipelines with different diameters, in order to locate segments and manholes with cracks and breaks.
The cracks and the breaks might cause different problems, such as:
- Sewage water penetration from a system which is not completely impermeable to a sensitive environment close to groundwater, water wells, lakes, rivers and agricultural land;
- Causing overload on underground infrastructure due to groundwater penetration to the sewage/ drainage system.
- Sand penetration to the different system, causing them to block;
- Surface collapse and sinkholes creation;
- Roots and other foreign objects penetration, causing the pipeline to block.
The test is performed by measuring the difference in air pressure for a given time. The ends of the segment are sealed by designated pneumatic plugs, allowing the pressure in the segment to rise while following changes in the air pressure.
Advantages of the air pressure test as opposed to the common water test:
- Significant savings in water and operational expenses;
- No need for a close-by water source or ordering mobile water tanks;
- Significant shorter test time – a few minutes instead of 24 hours;
- Possibility to perform many tests per day;
- Results are received directly from a computer;
- The testing system is portable and can be used anywhere.
